LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Rhino Entertainment) - The Ten Tenors will appear May 18 on the two-hour season finale of the ABC hit television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Host Ty Pennington and the show's designers will make the final stop on their 50-state tour as they head to New Orleans to help an extended family rebuild their homes and a local congregation with their church after the devastation of Katrina.
The Australian singing sensation will honor local heroes and builders with an emotionally charged musical tribute of "Here's To The Heroes," from the title track off The Ten Tenors' most recent album. The dramatic arrangement - John Barry's Oscar-winning score for "Dances With Wolves" - highlights the emotional impact of the group's vocal power.
"Rarely has an 'Extreme' concert been more perfectly appropriate for its audience than this one. The Ten Tenors sang a hero's tribute to a roomful of people who risked their own lives to save Katrina victims, and continue to work tirelessly to rebuild the city of New Orleans. It was a magical moment of recognition, of honor, and of hope," said "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" executive producer Denise Cramsey.
To celebrate The Ten Tenors' appearance on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," Rhino will release a two-disc special edition of "HERE'S TO THE HEROES." A Top 10 Billboard Classical Crossover Album, "HERE'S TO THE HEROES (SPECIAL EDITION)" is accompanied by a ten-song bonus disc that includes a collection of the group's hits and most popular songs performed at their concerts. "HERE'S TO THE HEROES (SPECIAL EDITION)" will be available May 13 at all physical and digital outlets, including www.rhino.com.
Originally released in 2006, "HERE'S TO THE HEROES" features The Ten Tenors backed by the 90-piece London Session Orchestra as they pay tribute to the Academy Award-winning career of film composer John Barry and his celebrated lyricist, Don Black.
Formed in Brisbane, Australia, in 1995 while members were still university students studying for opera careers, The Ten Tenors mounted their first full-length show in 1998 before setting out on an extensive Australian tour during that academic year. The group leapt to international attention in 2002 as the surprise guest artists at the Eurovision Grand Prix de la Chanson held in Kiel, Germany. Since then, The Ten Tenors (www.thetentenors.com) have sold more than a million records and sell out concerts around the world.
