FORT WORTH, TX. (Top40 Charts/ Bonner County Historical Society) - Renowned pianist, 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition finalist and top prizewinner in the Ninth San Antonio International Piano Competition Alexey Koltakov will perform at Panida Theatre in Sandpoint, Idaho on Saturday evening July 5, 2008, to honor long-time area resident Paul H. Rechnitzer on his ninetieth birthday. Mr. Koltakov will perform Beethoven Sonata in C Minor "Pathetique" op. 13 no. 8, four pieces from Tchaikovsky "The Seasons," Rachmaninov Etude-Tableau in E flat Minor op. 39 no. 5 and Liszt-Horowitz Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2. The Panida is at 300 North First Avenue. Curtain is at 7:00 pm. The concert is free and open to the public. The family suggests a voluntary contribution to the Bonner County Historical Society as the honoree is a long-time volunteer for and leader of the Historical Society. Seating is limited. Doors open at 6:50 pm. Born in Lugansk, Ukraine, in 1979, pianist Alexey Koltakov began his musical career at age five. Since then he has performed worldwide and received acclaim for his passion and technique. He was a finalist in the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition held in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2001. In 2006, he took the top prize in the Ninth San Antonio (Texas) International Piano Competition. He was also second prizewinner earlier in his career at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz. He took second prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in 2007. He recently completed a recital tour in his native Ukraine.
