Carlene Carter To Rock SXSW/Direct TV

Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Yep Roc Records) - Carlene Carter, standard bearer of the first family of country music, The Carter Family, will make her first appearance at the SXSW Music Conference with a panel on songwriting and a live Direct TV performance the whole country can enjoy.

Carter, one of the first Bohemian country rockers, has always known how to mix pop, country-rock and traditional sounds, and her critically acclaimed current release, Stronger, is yet another great testament to her musical sensibilities. The same energy and depth is seen in her live performances.

Before her live performance, Carlene will host a songwriter's panel for attendees of the respected conference. She will discuss songwriting techniques and stories as well as have a question and answer section.

DIRECTV, the nation's leading satellite television provider, will broadcast Carlene's hour long performance on Friday, May 20th at 9 p.m. CST exclusively on DIRECTV's original entertainment channel, The 101® Network.

The broadcasts will originate from a state-of-the-art venue, the traditional Lonestar Lounge. The venue has been constructed from the ground up in the Austin Convention Center to host the exclusive SXSW Live performances on DIRECTV.

The South By Southwest Music & Media Conference takes place March 18 - 22, 2009 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. The previously announced Quincy Jones' keynote address anchors four days of panels, interviews, workshops, peer meetings and the trade show exhibition covering a wide variety of topics which address the concerns and interests of musicians, executives and music lovers.
