Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Republic Records) - Universal Republic/Universal Records South Recording artist the Eli Young Band's major label debut, Jet Black & Jealous entered the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart today at No 5 and No 30 on the Top Current Albums chart, regardless of product shortages and delivery delays in their No 2 market of the greater Houston area and surrounding markets due to hurricane Ike. The band's on-line fan base delivered with 23.1% of sales coming from digital downloads, a huge percentage considering the average country release sells 4-7% on-line. The new buzz band of music row will be featured as Clear Channel's artist for the month for October. This program will give the band prominent placement on the home page of all 121 Clear Channel radio station web sites, a page featuring streams of 5 songs off the new album, as well as the video for "When It Rains" - the longest running independent single in the history of the country chart. Rave album reviews are pouring in, many written by music critics from the Top 20 newspapers in America. Arizona Daily Star claims the album is full of "deliciously pure country songs," while the Dallas Morning News states "this rockin' quartet joins the major-label world with an energetic, spirited effort." The new single, "Always The Love Songs," charted two weeks prior to it's impact date of Sept. 29 and is currently at 52* on the MB/CA Chart. The single, written by David Lee Murphy and George Ducas is already creating a stir among radio listeners and programmers from Tampa to Dallas and Denver, to name a few.
