George Brown's Musical Legacy Lives On: "Shawty's Got" Music Video Out Now
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The music world continues to honor the enduring legacy of George Brown - a cherished co-founder of the legendary Kool & The Gang, Songwriters Hall of Famer, drummer, keyboardist, author, husband, and father - with the release of the music video for "Shawty's Got." Written nearly two decades ago, "Shawty's Got," is a heartfelt tribute to young love, and homage to his wife Hahn Brown. This track is the second single from his upcoming posthumous album, 'Where I'm Coming From,' set to be released on September 13 on Astana Music Inc and distributed by BFD/The Orchard.

Shot in Brown's real-life family home in Woodland Hills, CA, the official music video weaves a tender narrative of the love story between Brown and his wife, portrayed by actors. Set against the backdrop of their shared sanctuary, every frame poignantly mirrors the deep, personal connection they shared, celebrating young love and encapsulating the themes of unity and harmony central to Brown's life and music.

Where I'm Coming From offers a unique insight into Brown's life story through its rich fusion of R&B and soul, guiding listeners on a deeply moving musical journey. The album is a 16-track masterpiece that weaves personal narratives and social commentary, showcasing a new dimension of Brown's artistry beyond his renowned role as Kool & The Gang's drummer. Brown's talent as a lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist shines through as he plays drums, percussion, keyboards, guitar, and bass. Recorded at Brown's Alley Cat Studio in Woodland Hills, CA, all songs were produced by Brown, with executive production by Claude Ismael. The album was engineered by Wolfgang Aichholz (Paula Abdul, Sheena Easton, Keith Washington) and Larry Fergusson (Lionel Richie, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer).
George Brown died from cancer in 2023, aged 74. He is survived by his wife, Hanh Brown, and his five children.

In 2023, Brown produced the band's latest album, 'People Just Wanna Have Fun,' and released his memoir "Too Hot: Kool & The Gang & Me." They've received two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums.
