New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Outlaw Country Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist Jesse Dayton has released the video for his protest song "Charlottesville." The video was shot with friend and film-maker, Jeff Shipman at the legendary Gruene Hall outside of Austin TX to a packed crowd of family, friends and lots of fans.

The track was written in the wake of the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, VA in August 2017 that tragically saw counter-protestors injured and killed. The song appears on his latest album The Outsider, released earlier this year on Blue Élan Records.
Sent to his fans today, Dayton said about the track:
The song came about after I watched the Unite The Right Rally held in Charlottesville Virginia on TV in 2017. There's no place in America for Nazis and we must continue to honor our grandparents who all sacrificed everything during WW2 to liberate our Jewish brothers and sisters.

I grew up on protest songs from Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Joe Strummer, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and the list goes on. I felt disingenuous not speaking out against this, so I wrote this song.

While I have lots of other songs that are not protest songs, I am in no way worried about blowback for speaking out on racism and anti-Semitic people...their money is no good with me....Hope u dig it.
Onward, Jesse Dayton

Jesse Dayton's career reads like a who's who of American music, having recorded guitars on records and film with Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, Glen Campbelland more. He has toured the world with punk legends X, filling for guitarist Billy Zoom on a 40-city U.S. tour. Rob Zombieasked him to write and record a soundtrack for his film 'The Devils Rejects,' which then lead to co-writing songs for Rob's follow up franchise film, 'Halloween 2' (which Dayton appears in playing the part of character 'Captain Clegg').

Jesse Dayton has been on tour non-stop for four years all over the US and Europe. His new record "The Outsider" was literally recorded while on tour in Atlanta, Denver, Nashville and Austin and mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer/producer Vance Powell(who has worked with the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Jack White).
