The Animal Care Taskforce (a non-profit 501(c)3) is currently sponsoring a program called "The Animal Hurricane Fund". The animals that survived hurricanes and floods are now succumbing to starvation and disease in the Gulf Coast region. Our initiative is to support the people who are continuing the struggle to attend to these animals. Your donations will further the efforts that are being made daily in the New Orleans area. The funds raised will buy medical supplies, food, water and materials to build or repair shelters. We will be delivering most of these items directly.

We are in contact with the Best Friends-Tylertown, MS chapter. Our plans are to travel to New Orleans on Tuesday, December 20th with as many of the supplies we can afford to purchase. We would like to have a caravan for transport of the supplies, as well as RV's to stay in for several days. We will be heading back to Nashville on Friday, December 23rd. There are folks that have been in New Orleans since early September. We would like to give them a break by making the rounds through the parishes and leave food and water for animals too afraid to come up to humans.

There are humane traps set to capture the animals in order to give them medical treatment and transport inland for future placement in permanent homes. Many are scared and disoriented. The buildings they are hiding in will soon be bulldozed down and they will be left to scavenge in a city that has few people. With no people, there are no foods scraps or means of survival. This is our opportunity to make a difference!
