NASHVILLE, TN. (Capitol Records) - Last evening before his scheduled Tuesday night performance at the Grand Ole Opry, country music star, Trace Adkins announced from the stage, that he and wife, Rhonda are expanding their family with a new baby girl, due this winter. This will be the happy couple's third daughter and Adkins' fifth. He has two teenage daughters from a previous marriage. A proud Opry member since 2003, Adkins seems to enjoy sharing special moments with his Opry family. It was in 1996, before his debut performance, Adkins got down on his knees, doffed his hat and made his marriage proposal from the hallowed stage. "I haven't told anyone before now, but I wanted all of you here tonight to know that my wife and I are expecting a new baby girl in December," says Adkins with a smile. "I know it's a girl because I've seen that sonogram photo four times before-and I know what that looks like - it's a girl, alright." Adkins then performed his hit single and ode to fatherhood, "Then They Do," and dedicated it "to the one that's on the way." Adkins, who is one of country music's consistent hitmakers and has registered a string of hits during his career, is presently touring and performing to sell-out crowds across the country. He's also been riding the ongoing wave of success from his latest CD, Comin' On Strong, his third gold certification in the last year that has produced two more hit singles - the Top 5 single, "Hot Mama," and his latest, "Rough & Ready."
