New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rosanne Cash has received three GRAMMY nominations for her latest album The River & The Thread, which is nominated for Best Americana Album while the track "A Feather's Not A Bird," which she co-wrote with John Leventhal, is up for Best American
Roots Performance and Best American
Roots Song. The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast and webcast will take place live from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 8, 2015.
The River & The Thread came in at No. 1 on the Americana Top 100 Albums of the year chart, which is compiled by the Americana
Music Association. Released in January 2014, it was the highest charting album of Cash's career on the Billboard 200 and debuted at No. 1 on the Folk Albums chart and at No. 2 on the Country Albums chart. Rolling Stone called it "remarkable," placing The River & The Thread on its list of 2014 albums listeners "really should hear." "Here it is - the best album of 2014," said People. The New York Times' Jon Pareles pronounced it "superb" and Newsweek hailed it as "the work of a lifetime." The album has already appeared on numerous critics' Best of 2014 lists, including Paste Magazine, No Depression, The Huffington Post, Uncut and MOJO.

To celebrate the grand opening of the fully restored home of the Cash family and other buildings in historic Dyess Colony, AK, Blue Note Records has manufactured a special limited edition vinyl 45 of "The Sunken Lands" backed with "The Long Way Home." Both tracks are from The River & The Thread.
The 45, which will benefit operations at the historic site, can be purchased HERE and is also available on Cash's current tour as well as at the
Johnny Cash Boyhood Home in Dyess and the
Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville.
Rosanne's 2015 tour includes a Valentine's Day show at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art. On June 6, she will perform at a special outdoor concert at Dockery Farms in Cleveland, MS, the birthplace of the Delta blues. The event will benefit Dockery Farms Foundation. See below for tour itinerary.
She recently received the 2014 Performing Arts award at Smithsonian magazine's 3rd annual American Ingenuity Awards, which recognize ten of the most innovative people in the arts and sciences. Smithsonian magazine praised Rosanne for inventing "a new kind of concept album" in this feature, and noted, "The River & the Thread, unlike such fabulist projects as Tommy, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Wall, is based not on fantasy but on a form of journalism…Out of this exploration [of the American South] came a series of songs that each depicted a particular person or town but that together formed an astonishing portrait of the region as a whole."
Cash was born in Memphis, TN, raised in Southern California and is a longtime New York City resident. She has recorded 15 albums, including 1981's
Seven Year Ache and 1987's King's Record Shop - both certified Gold. She has charted 21 Top 40 country singles, 11 of which climbed to No. 1. Cash has now received a total of 15 GRAMMY nominations, winning in 1985. She has also published four books, including her 2010 bestselling memoir, Composed.
