LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Capitan Melao Official Website) - Capitan means captain in Spanish. Melao is a Latin American slang word for swing, rhythm or soul. Capitan Melao has the seduction of Bossanova, the pain of a Bolero, the anger of Rock and the words of a dishearten poet always looking for love, who had it and lost it.
Music comes in different formats, languages and sources of inspiration. At the end an album is a compilation of one being's effort to tell us a tale about themselves, their lives and their imagination.
Side project of Javier Weyler (Stereophonics), Capitan Melao is the consequence of someone born in Buenos Aires (Argentina), who grew up in Caracas (Venezuela) and lives in London (UK). This exposure to different kinds of music allowed Javier to put together a compilation of great tracks. This is a singer songwriter project that integrates his cultural influences and experiences.
Capitan Melao debut album is called Lagrima (tear); this 10 track album will easily get into your senses and give you an amazing trip around lyrics with a dreamy and poetic content. The music is filmic. Latin rhythms like Bossanova and Bolero coexist with more western elements like Rock and Electronic.
Capitan Melao is a melting pot of Javier's life. Always in touch with his Latin American upbringing and this is an expression of that. The first ideas came together in his bedroom and were completed in spare times at hotel rooms, recording studios and the bunk of a tour bus whistle on the road.
Most of the album work is Javier's doing, however, he got together with some world renown talented musicians such as Roxy Music Phil Manzanera (Guitars on Terraplen), Mexican new revelation Natalia Lafourcade (Vocals on Estelar), Venezuelan ChuckNorris Carlos Reyes (Guitars on Te Amanezco), Music partner and creator of Le Picó Erik Aldrey (Guitars on Lagrima), among others.
The album cover is the perfect wrap up for this amazing music work, stunning illustrations done by the creative hand of Soo Hong (Korea) and design by Juan Pablo Solari of Yetta Design (Madrid).
Now is the time to bring this emotional music expression to your life. Lagrima's release will go beyond any geographical boundary as is set to be available worldwide through the web on Black Market (Black Beans' Online Shop) and on Itunes as from the 2nd of April.
This launch will be celebrated with some exclusive shows with Javier presenting Capitan Melao live, including a performance with Oscar winner and famous Argentinean producer Gustavo Santaolalla at the Barbican in London. Check his space for information on gig dates and tickets.
