LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ SESAC Latina) - Reaffirming her desire to venture professionally into the field of musical composition, Jazmin Lopez, the Princess of the 'Pasito Duranguense', has decided to affiliate with SESAC Latina. Songwriting partnerships are a key focus in this new stage of her career. With a career that began over seven years ago, and an album of cover songs recently released by Fonovisa/Universal, the artist states that she is taking on this new challenge with the goal of channeling her restlessness and poetic vision of life along with the craft and experience of other songwriters. "I trust wholeheartedly that my next album will include my own works," she said upon signing.
Jazmin currently hosts the MTV Tr3s television program "ReMexa" (which airs on the cable network from Monday through Friday), dedicated exclusively to the Regional Mexican genre of music. Prior to MTV Tr3s, she was the host of the show "Billboard Latino," which aired nationally on Azteca America, as well as the entertainment reporter for Univision TV in San Antonio, Texas.
Before dedicating herself to the 'Duranguense' genre, she was vocalist of the musical groups Nuevo Milenio, and Boots, with which she released her first two CDs.
Towards the beginning of 2009, Jazmin embarked on this current phase of her career after associating with producer and manager Pedro Avila, who launched the successful group Alacranes Musical.
Her first album in the 'Duranguense' style, titled "Jazmin," contained a total of 10 cover songs. It is precisely because of this that she decided to affiliate with SESAC Latina, reflecting her firm decision to become the composer of the new repertoire for her new album, which is expected to be released during the first quarter of 2010.
Upon welcoming her to the company, J. J. Cheng, Associate Vice President of SESAC Latina, stated that Jazmin Lopez's talent represents the best of Hispanic youth in the United States: "We are dealing with a charismatic artist who has multiple talents, because, apart from singing and songwriting, hosting television programs, doing interviews and editing them, she also plays keyboards, guitar, and saxophone."
Jazmin has emphasized the importance of having a performing rights society concerned with her creative development. Regarding the musical instruments she plays, she admits that she became familiar with them at the insistence of her mother, who also began giving her singing classes when she was 4 years old.
SESAC Latina's newest affiliate was born on May 7th in Del Rio, Texas, and grew up in Brackettville, Texas. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
