Jorge Villamizar Sets A Record In The Venezuelan Musical Charts With His Second Single 'Alma En Libertad' (Freed Soul)

LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Warner Music Latina) - Jorge Villamizar set a record in Venezuela when "ALMA EN LIBERTAD" (Freed Soul) ,his second cut from his homonymous album, became number one charting in three categories. The single topped the Latin, Pop & Rock, and General categories charts, according to Venezuela Record Report.

The songs with melodic guitars, fused with nostalgic tones, dealing with lack of love counts on a showy video that is shot in the streets of Bogota combining the colorful nocturnal life of the city with the beauty of the Colombian woman. The video was directed by Emiliano C. Lopez and produced by Jose Mafla.

JORGE VILLAMIZAR's album which debuted last May on Warner Music Latina, was received with rave reviews. The songs include "Como vivir asi" (How to live like that) "Enredadera" (Web), "No", "Alma en liberated" (Freed soul), "Espejo" (Mirror), "Que mas quisiera yo" (What more would I want), "Espero que tu puedas vivir con lo que tengo para dar" (I hope you can live with what I got to give) "Pequenos romances" (Small romances), "El colombiano errante" (Nomadic Colombian), "Dime quien" (Tell me who) and "Que pereza" (What laziness).

After gaining fame and recognition through his band BACILOS, which he fronted for 12 years and with which he snagged a Grammy , JORGE VILLAMIZAR decided to undertake a new career venture as a solo artist. After the brake up of the group in February of the 2007 and beginning of his solo career the talented composer decided to take a hiatus and travel. His travels took him from Paris to Bogota, to Cartagena and Miami. During this time period and with no plans to penned new material, the songs in the new album were born. The record was recorded between Miami and Bogota with the collaboration of producer Richard Blair. The album featured the collaboration of top caliber musicians such as Chucho Merchan on base (Pete Townsend, David Gilmour, Pretenders, Eurythmics), Teto Ocampo on guitar and Robert Cuao on "grooves".
