Music Latina) - The young and beautiful Mexican actress and singer, Ximena Sarinana arrives to the United Status with MEDIOCRE (Warner
Music Latina), an album with original tracks from the songwriter that has broken the mold in the music industry showing us that the only thing mediocre about this album is the title.
Her first single, "Vidas Paralelas" (Parallel Lives - Vidas Paralelas) can be heard on national radio stations and the video is on rotation on every video channel.
Known for her numerous works on Mexican television and film, Ximena surprised everyone with such a unique album which she recorded in Buenos Aires with a select group of Argentinean musicians.
Even though her professional acting career began at the tender age of 4 thanks to her parents - famous movie director Fernando Sarinana and producer/screenwriter Carolina Rivera - her passion for music flourished from her love of jazz and the influence of singers like Bjork, the legendary Ella Fitzgerald and many other Latin artists.
Ximena Sarinana's first musical debut was in the film Amar Te Duele (Love Hurts You) which is where she developed her original style of jazz, pop, rock and funk which became an instant hit with listeners.
MEDICOCRE has Ximena's personal stamp along with the collaboration of Argentinean producer Tweety Gonzalez, known for his work with Gustavo Cerati and Soda Stereo, and Uruguayan producer Juan Campodonico (Jorge Drexler and Bajofondo) who convinced the singer to deeper explore her singing abilities by doing cover songs like "Sintiendo rara" (Feeling weird) by Erik Couts and "Gris" (Gray) by the famous Uruguayan rock band Loop Lascano.
"Sometimes people think that singing is easy, it receives less merit than composing or playing an instrument but it's very difficult to make someone else's song sound like your own and transmit something different to the listeners with the same song," says the talented singer.
At only 22 years old, Ximena Sarinana already has quite a following. Thanks first to the Amar Te Duele soundtrack, then with her band Feliz No Cumpleanos (Happy Un-birthday) and now with MEDIOCRE. She says that her fans are what give her the inspiration to continue and she maintains constant communication with them via social Internet websites such as Facebook, Hi5, YouTube and MySpace where she has twice been selected as "Artist of the Week" in less than a month.
The everything but MEDIOCRE album received Gold certification in Mexico after the new artist debuted at No 1 which is a feat in itself. The album is set to be released in the U.S. and in Puerto Rico on July 15.
