NEW YORK, NY (Latin Recording Academy) -— Wednesday night's celebration of BMI's Latin GRAMMY nominees, hosted by BMI, nocheLatina.com, and BACARDI was an indisputable success. Joe's Pub was transformed from its usual intimate, candle-lit atmosphere into an authentic Latin party scene, complete with an exotic green-lighting wash that filled the venue with ambiance and set the tone for the entertainment of the evening.
The first-class entertainment kept the energy level in the venue at an energetic buzz throughout the evening. In attendance were many top music industry figureheads, including Max Siegel, the Senior Vice President of the Zomba Label Group and Ingio Zabala, the head of Warner Musica International and Latin America. Also in attendance were Jackie Saad Robinson, head designer for LATINO ROYALTY, Jerry Blair of the Fuerte Group, and multi-GRAMMY winner and Producer, Sebastian Crys. The emcee for the evening was BMI's Porfirio Pina, and he transitioned the acts of the evening with the entertaining flair that only he can provide.
Javier Garcia opened the night with his high-energy, fun personality, warming the crowd up with a 45 minute set. The audience enjoyed every minute of Garcia, a sentiment that carried right through Motel's phenomenal performance. Most notably unique about their sound is Motel's rare ability to sound just like that of a "typical" rock band though far from typical, pulling together the passion and feel of Latin music with the energy and rhythm of contemporary rock and roll. This is a rare gem found in this group as many people would say that Latino and Rock Band don't mix, but they do and they do it well.
After Motel's incredible 30 minute set, Inés Gaviria prepared herself to take the stage and wind the night down to its close. The diverse crowd was once again brought to the edge of their seats as Inés' entrancing and engulfing melodies filled Joe's Pub, proving once again to her audience that she is not only an irrefutable beauty, but a talent to be respected and appreciated.
Inés brought the night full circle to a perfect conclusion, closing Joe's Pub down just after 1am. The happy crowd spilled back into the street buzzing about the certain success of the talented artists they had seen that night at the the much-anticipated Latin music awards show.
The one of a kind performances and atmosphere of the night is certain to be talked-about long after the winners have been named and the awards have been handed out. nocheLatina.com pulled together an amazing combination of talent and ambiance, once again giving its audience a top-quality evening of entertainment and fun.
"BACARDI Noche Latina is a celebration of Latin music," says Alex Frias, Managing Director of nocheLatina.com. "We wanted to showcase the amazing BMI talent that has been nominated for their excellence.
