Rascal Flatts is every country band's dream gig. Now one lucky Canadian band can make this dream a reality by entering Capital Hoedown Showdown!
Beginning today, Capital Hoedown invites artists and bands from all around the country to submit original Country music at CapitalHoedown.net for a chance to perform live main stage August 13th at Capital Hoedown Country Music Festival. Country music fans from coast to coast will be voting online to select the best country act in Canada.
Artists/bands are also encouraged to use Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to get their name out and their fans pumped to vote them number one on the Hoedown site. Online voting begins today as well, and is available to anyone who sets up an account on OurStage at CapitalHoedown.net. Once a person sets up an individual account, they automatically become an OurStage Member with voting rights to rank the submitted acts from highest to lowest preference.
At the end of round 1 voting on June 24, 2011, the top 40 entries will move forward to Round 2 - the semi-finals. OurStage Members can still continue judging until July 11, 2011 when the top 10 ranked entries get to Round 3. A pre-selected judging panel will select the top three finalists to perform at the "Capital Hoedown Showdown Finale" in front of a live audience at the Lone Star East in Ottawa on July 28, 2011.
At the Hoedown Showdown Finale, a final judging panel will select the country act with the highest score (based on the following criteria: (i) presentation; (ii) originality and creativity; (iii) melody, vocal ability and music; (iv) lyrics; and (v) entertainment value) as the grand prize winner. The Showdown winner will perform on the mainstage Aug 13 with Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans, Easton Corbin, Justin Moore, and The Keats.
