Lakeshore Records Presents One And Two Original Soundtrack
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Lakeshore Records will release ONE AND TWO - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on August 28, 2015. The film features original music by Nathan Halpern, his second collaboration with director Andrew Droz Palermo (the first was the 2014 Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner RICH HILL).

"At its heart, ONE AND TWO is a fairytale - albeit a chilling one," said Halpern. "Thematically, classic fairytales speak to the most elemental oppositions of childhood: good and evil, love and abandonment, innocence and experience. So the score I created for the film was one of musical dualities: sweet melody and cruel dissonance; natural acoustic instruments and mangled electronics."

Nathan Halpern is a composer from New York City. His recent film scores include RICH HILL, winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary. He is also known for his original score for MARINA ABRAMOVIC: THE ARTIST IS PRESENT (HBO Films), winner of several awards including the EMMY® Award for Best Arts and Cultural Programming, and the George Foster Peabody Award.

Halpern's other recent film credits include The PBS documentary POISONER'S HANDBOOK (currently nominated for an EMMY) and KEHINDE WILEY: AN ECONOMY OF GRACE, winner of the 2014 South by Southwest Grand Jury Prize. In 2013, he scored Robert Redford's ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN REVISITED (Discovery), which was nominated for a Primetime EMMY. That same year, Halpern was commissioned to create '1913,' a sound/music installation at New York City's Lexington Armory, commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the first International Exhibition of Modern Art. Halpern made his film scoring debut in 2011 with RENEE (ESPN Films / 30 for 30). Upcoming film scores include Amanda Sharp's STICKY NOTES starring Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) and Ray Liotta, and feature documentaries for broadcast on PBS, Pivot, and HBO.

Siblings Eva (MAD MEN'S Kiernan Shipka) and Zac (Homeland's Timothée Chalamet) live cut off from society in a remote farmhouse, their insular world bounded by an enormous wall. But as the pair begins exploring their extraordinary, potentially dangerous supernatural abilities, a mystery arises: is their father trying to keep the world out, or to keep his children in? This stunningly original science-fiction mind-bender is a surprising, thought-provoking look at the bonds that tie families together and the secrets that drive them apart. Twilight's Elizabeth Reaser co-stars.

"Andrew Droz Palermo is a uniquely poetic director, and he created these very evocative images of the children in nature that I really responded to musically," Halpern described. "In the opening scene, Zac and Eva play in the lake and run in the woods at dusk. Beneath the sounds of the water, I bring in an otherworldly sonic texture to signal that the world of the film is not one of realism, but one of myth and fable."

IFC Films presents ONE AND TWO in theaters and On Demand August 14, 2015. Lakeshore Records presents ONE AND TWO - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, available digitally on August 28, 2015.
