LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ 60 Cycle Media/ Warner Bros. Records) LINKIN PARK lead vocalist Chester Bennington revealed on KROQ's
Kevin & Bean show this morning that the band will be performing their
Music for Relief benefit show for Japan at the intimate Mayan Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
Linkin Park, along with B'z, Japan's most successful band of all time, challenged fans to raise money for Japan tsunami relief, to gain access to the private, intimate concert featuring both artists. Fans that raised at least $500 will receive two tickets to the show. Since the innovative social networking fundraiser began on June 30th, supporters have raised over $250,000 - with the number constantly growing. Contributors from all over the world have been taking part in the effort, with 3,869 fans still raising funds. The top 50 fundraisers will attend a private meet and greet with Linkin Park band members, and the top 10 fundraisers will also receive signed instruments from the band. The top fundraiser will watch the concert from the side of the stage. The Mayan Theatre is the smallest venue Linkin Park has performed a full concert in over 10 years. A very small amount of tickets remain available for fans who have yet to reach their fundraising goal. For further information, go to www.secretshowforjapan.com.

One hundred percent of proceeds from the online fundraising campaign will benefit Music for Relief's support of Save the Children in Japan to provide services, care, and assistance to children affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Nearly six months after the multiple disasters, the ongoing recovery effort includes the development of child friendly spaces that offer psychological support for children, as well as play zones for children who cannot play outside due to fear of radiation. For those children at risk of not continuing their studies due to a parent's loss of livelihood, financial help is offered to keep them in school.
