The Beach Boys And Tongal To Host Music Video And Guitar Solo Competitions In Partnership With Fender
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ Tongal) Tongal, the world's leading resource for community-based creative, has teamed with The Beach Boys and Fender for music video and guitar solo competitions. Celebrating the legendary band's 50 th anniversary and the August 27 release of their new career-spanning, six-CD collection, Made In California , the competitions will be judged by The Beach Boys and the band's team at Capitol/UMe.

In The Beach Boys guitar solo contest, presented by Tongal and sponsored by Fender, contestants can record and submit their own guitar solo for "Goin' To The Beach," a previously unreleased Beach Boys song written by Mike Love that is featured in the band's new Made In California collection. One grand prize winner and nine runners-up will be selected. The winning soloist will have their performance mixed into a new master version of the song, which will premiere on The Beach Boys' Facebook page, and will also receive a signed, California-made Beach Boys Edition Fender Stratocaster® guitar, a copy of the Made In California collection, and a VIP Factory Tour Prize Pack, with runner-up prizes including Affinity Series™ Stratocaster guitars, additional copies of Made In California , and deluxe tour photo books. Complete contest details and official rules are available now at www.tongal.com/gointothebeach .

Tongal has also launched a music video competition for The Beach Boys' "California Feelin'," another previously unreleased song from Made In California , written by Brian Wilson and Stephen Kalinich. Fans have a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a fully endorsed, official music video for one of the greatest bands of all time. Tongal's innovative platform utilizes a series of competitions, from conception through filmed execution, which allows users from all over the world to build on each other's ideas and earn cash prizes working with major artists and brands. Patterned after Tongal's successful 2011 "Heroes and Villains" video competition in conjunction with The Beach Boys' GRAMMY®-winning release, The SMiLE Sessions , the winning entry will be the song's official music video. A total of $10,000 in prize money will be awarded to Tongal community members for the top submissions. Complete contest details and official rules are available now at www.tongal.com/californiafeelin .

To be released August 27 (August 26 outside of North America) by Capitol/UMe, Made In California features more than seven and a half hours of music, including more than 60 previously unreleased tracks. The deluxe set is presented in a high school annual-inspired hardbound book with personal recollections from the band's members, replicated classic artwork and memorabilia, photos from the band's archive, and handwritten yearbook-style inscriptions from Beach Boys Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks.

Produced by The Beach Boys and The SMiLE Sessions ' GRAMMY® Award-winning team of Mark Linett, Alan Boyd, and Dennis Wolfe, Made In California chronologically charts the 50-year career of America's Band, from their earliest demos to their most recent recordings. With huge hits and rare gems including never-before-released original songs, home demos, alternate takes and mixes, and live concert, television and radio performances, the set showcases the breadth and diversity of The Beach Boys' recorded catalog and illustrates the band's unique and evocative West Coast story. From "Surfin' Safari" to "God Only Knows," "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "Good Vibrations" to "Kokomo," The Beach Boys' canon boasts a masterful versatility that is unparalleled in American popular music.

The Beach Boys continue to hold Billboard / Nielsen SoundScan's record as the top-selling American band for albums and singles, and they are also the American group with the most Billboard Top 40 chart hits (36). Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys has achieved triple-Platinum sales status, and The SMiLE Sessions, released to worldwide critical acclaim in November 2011, won a GRAMMY® Award for Best Historical Album and was heralded as the year's Best Reissue by Rolling Stone magazine.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and recipients of The Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, The Beach Boys are an American institution that is iconic around the world.
