New York, NY (Top40 Charts) [...] working with consumer music libraries inevitably means dealing with one-off miscellaneous tracks. Using OneMusicAPI, metadata can be provided for individual tracks so consumers can have better experiences.
OneMusicAPI have introduced track-based searches to their low cost musical metadata database. This new release adds information about over 15 million musical tracks and is available immediately.
Dan Gravell, founder of the OneMusicAPI project, said, "Track-based searches are of enormous value to app writers and music server manufacturers. We've learnt that, while album-based searches are valuable, working with consumer music libraries inevitably means dealing with one-off miscellaneous tracks. Using OneMusicAPI, metadata can be provided for individual tracks so consumers can have better experiences."
The new track-based searches provide metadata about musical tracks; namely their name, writers, performers and the releases they are contained within. Queries can be made using either the Acoustid audio fingerprint for the track, or by simply providing the track and artist name. The backing database of over 15 million tracks ensures the likelihood of a match is high.
OneMusicAPI works by aggregating the largest existing available free online music metadata APIs - MusicBrainz, Discogs, Wikipedia, FreeDB and more. It pools the data, massages it to improve quality, and links records from different databases to improve coverage. It then presents one API to clients, so clients only need to write one integration, not four (or more).
The new release is available immediately, and the existing APIs covering musical releases (albums, singles, compilations), CD media, images and artists are all retained.
OneMusicAPI is a RESTful JSON API. Developers must request an API key and may test it for 1000 lookups. After that, access costs £15 per 100,000 lookups, £150 per month for metadata only, or £300 per month for metadata and image access. Interested developers should contact api(at)onemusicapi(dot)com for more information.
