SANTA MONICA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Cherrytree Records) 2015 marks the ten-year anniversary for ground-breaking, pop-alternative label Cherrytree Records. In 2005,
Martin Kierszenbaum took his vision of a musician-friendly haven for creative freedom, and with forward thinking and focused dedication, he and his tight-knit, committed Cherrytree staff went on to sign, develop and break some of the most maverick artists on the charts today. Now a full service music company that encompasses label, management and publishing with offices on both the West and East Coast as well as in Paris, Cherrytree has become home to some of the most musically innovative artists of today, including: Feist, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, Sting, Robyn, La Roux, Nero, LMFAO, Keane, and
Far East Movement as well as chart-topping writers and producers including Michael Einziger (Avicii, Incubus,
David Guetta), Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue) and Gavin Brown (Metric, Three Days Grace) and renowned mixer Robert Orton (Lana Del Ray, Paramore, Charli XCX).
Interscope Records founder and then chairman Jimmy Iovine backed and encouraged Kierszenbaum in starting his own progressive pop music label, and from Cherrytree's momentous first release, Canadian singer-songwriter Feist's acclaimed Let It Die in 2005, the seed was planted. From developing and breaking the most creative talent to building the Cherrytree brand with out-of-the-box ideas like the Cherrytree Presents tours, CherrytreeRadio.com and The Cherrytree Sessions (intimate live albums from The Cherrytree House), Kierszenbaum has led his team and extraordinary roster of talent to 31 GRAMMY nominations, 51 international # 1 singles, 33,052,506 (and counting) albums sold, 172+ million singles sold, countless top 10's all the while building a legacy with Cherrytree Records that has helped to shape pop culture as we know it today.
A Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter himself, Kierszenbaum started his career songwriting and working in the mailroom at PolyGram Records before becoming International Publicist at Warner Brothers. He went on to serve as Head of International at A&M Records then joined Interscope Geffen A&M in the same role before joining Interscope's A&R department. He has been instrumental in developing the global careers of such artists as Eminem, Gwen Stefani,
Nelly Furtado Soundgarden, will.i.am, and the
Black Eyed Peas.
On Cherrytree's tenth anniversary, Kierszenbaum comments, "In April of 2005, as we were releasing our very first album on Cherrytree - Feist's "
Let It Die" - we dreamed of creating a music company where musicians, songwriters and recording artists, could experiment, innovate, collaborate and, most of all, have fun. Thanks to our fearless artists, loyal audience and tireless staff, we've been able to achieve and sustain exactly that kind of environment for a decade already. I'm grateful to all of them for helping us to define our progressive aesthetic while, at the same time, evolving it through wondrous musical and cultural shifts. I feel as fortunate on this, our tenth anniversary, as I am excited for the next wave of new music about to come out on Cherrytree."
As Cherrytree Records celebrates ten wonderful years, they also look towards the future with highly anticipated upcoming releases in 2015 from some of the labels most established artists alongside new signings and up-and-comers poised to become household names.
