NEW YORK (Eminem Fans Website) - In addition to Eminem's latest radio success, "Lose Yourself," the soundtrack to his debut film, 8 Mile, will feature tracks from Jay-Z, Xzibit, Macy Gray, D-12, 50 Cent, and others.
The 16-track soundtrack is due Oct. 29 on Shady Records/Interscope Records, while the movie - starring himself, Brittany Murphy, Kim Basinger, Mekhi Phifer, and Taryn Manning (whose band, Boomkat, is on the soundtrack) - hits theatres nationwide on Nov. 8.
The album features three new songs from Eminem - the aforementioned first single "Lose Yourself," "8 Mile," and "Run Rabbit Run" - and three tracks with 50 Cent, who recently co-signed to Em's Shady Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. Another Shady signing, Obie Trice, also makes the cut with two tracks. (Obie appears on D-12's Devils Night and The Eminem Show on "Drips.")
"The 8 Mile soundtrack was different because it forced me to step into Rabbit, the character I play in the film, and write from his point of view," said Eminem in a statement. "It was a challenge. Also, the project afforded me the opportunity to not only make an album with a wish list of some of my favorite artists, but to showcase what we have coming on Shady Records."
