STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Roxette Fans Website) - Marie Fredriksson, singer with Swedish pop act Roxette, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The 44-year-old, who fainted in her Stockholm home last week, is now in hospital.
Her record label EMI Sweden said medical tests showed the singer had a small tumour in the back of her head but that more tests were needed to determine proper treatment.

Roxette, a duo composed of Ms Fredriksson and guitarist and singer Per Gessle, were due to launch a new single, A Thing About You, in three weeks' time.
They also had plans for a European tour, due to start in late October.

The duo are one of the most successful musical exports Sweden has produced - and the most successful ever in the US singles charts.
Their first UK hit, The Look, hit number seven in the UK singles charts in 1989.

Since then they have had four more top 10 hits in the UK, including It Must Have Been Love (from the "Pretty Woman" soundtrack), Joyride, Almost Unreal and Look..

Frederiksson had also enjoyed success under her own name, hitting the Swedish charts in 1999 with a duet, Wonderful World, with Abba's Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

Roxette had planned to launch the duo's new single, "A Thing About You," on Oct. 14 and start a European tour later the same month, said Johan Olsson of their record label, EMI Sweden. It was unclear how her illness would affect those plans.

In November the duo joined US singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and Swedish royal dignitaries at the party for Lopez's European tour.
