SYDNEY, Australia (ARIA) - Kylie Minogue, Kasey Chambers, &
Alex Lloyd Among 2002 ARIA Nomination Leaders.
Kylie Minogue, Kasey Chambers, and
Alex Lloyd will all head into Australia's 16th Annual ARIA Awards with a wealth of nominations at six each.
The show, set for Oct. 15 in Sydney, will see Minogue vying for Single of the Year and Highest Selling Single for "Can't Get You Out of My Head"; Album of the Year, Best Pop Release, and Highest Selling Album for Fever; and Best Female Artist.
Chambers will look to take awards home for Single of the Year and Highest Selling Single for "Not Pretty Enough"; Album of the Year, Best Country Album, and Highest Selling Album for Barricades and Brickwalls; and Best Female Artist.
Lloyd will test the waters for Single of the Year and Highest Selling Single for "Amazing"; Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, and Highest Selling Album for Watching Angels Mend; and Best Male Artist.
Close behind were rock newcomers the Vines, which grabbed five nominations to cap off a big year for the heralded foursome. Sydney's finest will vie for Single of the Year and Best New Artist - Single for "Get Free"; Best New Artist - Album and Best Rock Album for Highly Evolved; and Best Group.
Other acts receiving multiple nominations were Silverchair (three), Holly Valance (four), George (four), and 1200 Techniques (four), among others.
Meanwhile, Silverchair's camp already has a slew of awards in the can. ARIA Artisan Awards, announced along with the nominations on Monday (Sept. 16), went to singer Daniel Johns for Producer of the Year for Diorama, Anton Hagop for Engineer of the Year for Diorama, and Johns, Darren Glindemann, John Watson, and Melissa Chenery for Best Cover Art for Diorama.
