NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's return is now a bona fide commercial success, as the group's first new studio album in 18 years, The Rising, debuts at No. 1 on The US Albums with 524,976 in sales.

The Rising also debuts at No. 1 in 10 other countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. Its first-week sales are Springsteen's highest in the SoundScan era (from 1991 on).

While in just below Springsteen at No. 2, Linkin Park's remix album, Reanimation, sold 270,198 in first week sales. The only other top 10 debut comes from a relative newcomer, Amerie, whose All I Have takes the No. 9 position on the chart. Def Leppard's X missed by one, coming in at No. 11.

Two other acts enter the top 40 this week as well: Filter's The Amalgamut bows at No. 32 and Beth Orton's Daybreaker just makes it at No. 40.

Other notable debuts include: Knoc-Turn'Al, L.A. Confidential Presents Knoc-Turn'Al (No. 74); Karen Clark-Sheard, 2nd Chance, No. 82; and Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker, Back to Then, No. 127.
