Gospel Singer Shirley Willis' First Major Summer NYC Performance Since Near Death Car Accident
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Oracabessa Festival, slated to be held at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 will see one of Jamaica's long standing gospel groups the Grace Thrillers in concert featuring legendary singer Shirley Willis. This is the group's first major performance at a major outdoor summer festival in the ti-state area and Willis' first major NY performance since her near death car accident in Jamaica in 2008.

"The Grace Thrillers has not graced the New York stage in a very long while and as Caribbean nationals, gospel has always had pride of place in our lives - whether we are believers or not," Clarke noted.

With her powerful testimony after beating the odds and coming out of a coma that demonstrates the power of God Almighty, Shirley Willis' ministering should be that much more riveting when she hits the stage on May 25. Willis will shear stage with original members of the Thrillers including Pat Archer and Dian Stewart. With songs such as 'Shady Green Pastures,' 'Can't Even Walk,' 'Fill My Cup Lord,' 'Oh How I Love Jesus' and 'Lead Me To Calvary' the group has remained a favourite when it comes to their gospel offering.

"It is a blessing to be alive an be able perform for the Lord Jesus Christ after that terrible car accident that had put me in a coma for almost three months. I am so excited and looking forward to performing songs of praise and worship with past members of the original Grace Thrillers Gospel group at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens" Willis told the Star.

The Oracabessa festival which takes place on Memorial Day, which is set aside for remembering those who died while serving the United States armed forces will see other artistes in action including Sean Paul, Freddy McGregor, Tarrus Riley, Dexta Daps, Alaine, Josey Wales and Digicel Rising Stars 2009 winner Chris Martin.

Commenting on the lineup, Clarke said it's a diverse package and one that ensures there is "a little of something for everyone". He said there is already a big buss on the show and he anticipates it will enjoy a good turnout.

"Blending the lineup ensures a steady diet of old school lover's rock, gospel, dancehall and something for the ladies in the form of Tarrus Riley. We expect great vibes plus we are paying homage to those who sacrificed so much for the country we now call home. It is a perfect blend" he reiterated.
