New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) Katy Perry's worldwide #1 megahit "
Firework" and Australian collaborators Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP's worldwide #1 dance hit "
We No Speak Americano" will highlight the original motion picture soundtrack album Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, set for release June 5th on Interscope Records in advance of the movie's theatrical release June 8 from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. (Nasdaq: DWA.) For the first time in 3D, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most
Wanted is the long-awaited new chapter in the Madagascar franchise, which has earned more than $1 billion at the box office. Paramount
Pictures will distribute the film.
Music remains central to the franchise, as the Madagascar 3: Europe's Most
Wanted soundtrack album will include a number of themes by Academy Award®-winning and four-time Grammy Award®-winning composer Hans Zimmer: "New York City Surprise," "Game On," "Light the Hoop On Fire!," "Fur Power!," and "Rescue Stefano." In addition to 2005's Madagascar and 2008's Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa, Zimmer is celebrated for his soundtracks to The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Inception, and many other titles. Zimmer has scored over 100 films.
Along with "
Firework" and "We No Speak Americano," the Madagascar 3: Europe's Most
Wanted soundtrack album features three-time Grammy Award®-winning producer-songwriter
Peter Asher's "Love Always Comes As a Surprise." New Madagascar voice
Frances McDormand, as relentless French animal control officer
Captain Chantal DuBois (who is in hot pursuit of the Zoosters running wild in her city), pays tribute to the
Little Sparrow Edith Piaf with a new take on the classic "Non, je ne regrette rien (No, I have no regrets)."
In addition, Madagascar's King Julien covers C + C
Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)," Spice Girls' "Wannabe," and Nelly's "Hot In Herre," and collaborates with Marty (voiced by Chris Rock) for the album's closing mash-up of "Afro Circus" and Reel 2 Real's "
I Like To Move It" for new track "Afro Circus/I Like To Move It."
DreamWorks Animation SKG's Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, distributed by Paramount Pictures, finds Central Park Zoo's most notorious crew of animated characters - led by Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the
Zebra (Chris Rock), Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer), and
Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith)- continuing their endless voyage home to New York. This time they take over and reinvent a down-and-out circus traveling across Europe, hiding out, doing death defying tricks (perfect for 3D), and making new friends.
Along for the adventure in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most
Wanted are Sacha Baron Cohen (as King Julien), Cedric The Entertainer (as Maurice), Andy Richter (as Mort),
Jessica Chastain (as Gia), Bryan Cranston (as Vitaly),
Martin Short (as Stefano), and
Frances McDormand as
Captain Chantal DuBois.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most
Wanted is directed by Eric Darnell, Conrad Vernon and Tom McGrath. Darnell and McGrath directed the first two installments and are joined this time by director Conrad Vernon, who earned kudos as director of Shrek 2 and Monsters vs. Aliens, and served as a voice on Madagascar and Madagascar 2. The Madagascar 3: Europe's Most
Wanted screenplay is written by Darnell and Noah Baumbach (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Greenberg). It is produced by Mireille Soria (Madagascar 2) and Mark Swift (Madagascar 2).
