Iconic Documentary "Welcome To Death Row" Scheduled For Re-Release On August 11, 2015
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Stonecutter Media) Prior to the national theatrical release of "Straight Outta Compton," the story of N.W.A. (August 14th) is the re-release of the original gangsta drama, "Welcome to Death Row." The critically acclaimed documentary, will begin airing on August 11th on the Movies On Demand (MOD) platforms of Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Bright House Networks, RCN, Midcontinent Communications and many more.

"Welcome to Death Row," which originally premiered in September 2001, was the first to tell the story of N.W.A., Ruthless Records and the birth of Death Row Records. This film is a gritty insider's look into the lives of the gang members who took street music to the mainstream - and brought violence, sex and money with it.

Directed by S. Leigh Savidge and produced by Steve Housden & Jeff Scheftel, "Welcome to Death Row" details the rise and the fall of the original gangster rap label Death Row Records. The movie begins with the story of the founding members and artists including Suge Knight, Eazy E., Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, and their involvement with the creation of Death Row Records in the wake of Suge Knight's coercive removal of Dr. Dre from NWA. Combining old school street mentality and keen business sense, Death Row Records strong-armed their way to success.

"Welcome to Death Row" covers musical milestones including Dr. Dre's The Chronic and Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle albums, Tupac Shakur's triumphant involvement and lesser-known relationships with artists like MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice.

The story and life of Death Row comes to an end as personal rivalries, greed, violence, government scrutiny and ultimately the murder of Tupac, cause the company to implode faster than its unprecedented rise.

"Much of the core urban music demographic was barely out of grade school when 'Welcome to Death Row' was released. By making this iconic movie available to watch on demand on cable, we're enabling rap fans to see the unbiased documentary revealing the real story, before heading to the theaters to see 'Straight Outta Compton," said Steve Karel, president of Stonecutter Media, Ltd., the VOD distributor of "Welcome to Death Row."
"Welcome to Death Row" is distributed to most major cable providers by iN DEMAND.
