Hyperion Hits 10 Million Streams In Six Weeks & Launches Curated Chapter-By-Chapter Streaming Release Programme
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Just six weeks after joining streaming platforms, multi-award-winning label Hyperion Records has already reached 10 million streams, with pianists Angela Hewitt OBE and Sir Stephen Hough each exceeding two million streams.

This summer, multi-award-winning label Hyperion Records made the first 200 albums from its 43-year-old catalogue of recordings available on all streaming platforms, for the very first time. Today sees the start of Hyperion's second phase of its move to streaming, releasing 70-120 albums at a two-weekly cadence. Each of these carefully curated 'chapters' will showcase one of the label's renowned genres, such as Solo Piano, Renaissance Music, Choral Music, Lieder and Song, Concerto and Chamber Music. The chapter-by-chapter release programme is aimed to help listeners to absorb and celebrate Hyperion's 43-year history of recordings.

The focus of Chapter 1 is great pianists, AKA 'Superpianists #1'. The 71-album chapter completes the streaming discographies of Stephen Osborne OBE, Sir Stephen Hough and rising star Pavel Kolesnikov amongst others, while Chapter 4 adds more great pianists with 'Superpianists #2' including Seta Tanyel, award-winning Marc-Andre Hamelin and legendary Tatiana Nikolayeva. It is also planned for Angela Hewitt to lead the New Year charge in January 2024.

Subsequent chapters released between today and 24th November are as follows: Chapter 2 explores Choral Music; Chapter 3 the Violin & Cello; Chapter 4 with Superpianists #2; Chapter 5 celebrates String Quartets; and Chapter 6 showcases the label's unrivalled catalogue of Christmas, Choral & Cathedral Music.

These chapters complete the discographies of, among others, the Choir of Trinity College Cambridge (one of the world's top 5 choirs according to a Gramophone Magazine poll), Polyphony, the Holst Singers, the Corydon Singers, the Gesualdo Six and Alina Ibragimova. Every album comes complete with its booklet, where relevant, and choral and song albums are delivered with their sung texts.

In addition to the ambitious streaming re-issue programme, the label continues to add new releases to its roster over the autumn, adding nine brand new albums between September and November 2023. Since July of this year, all new Hyperion titles are simultaneously available for physical purchase, streaming and download.

HYPERION STREAMING CHAPTER RELEASE PROGRAMME:
Chapter 1: Superpianists #1 (15th Sep)
Chapter 2: Choral Music (29th Sep)
Chapter 3: Violin & Cello (13th Oct)
Chapter 4: Superpianists #2 (27th Oct)
Chapter 5: String Quartets (10th Nov)
Chapter 6: Christmas, Choral & Cathedral Music (24th Nov)

The label is dedicated to presenting high-quality recordings of classical music from all styles and periods, ranging from the 12th century to the 21st. Over its history, Hyperion has released over 2000 recordings. The label has received numerous accolades, including the Gramophone Recording of the Year Award multiple times, Gramophone's Label of the Year, and the Best Label Award by MIDEM's Cannes Classiques Awards. It was acquired by UMG in March 2023 to join its portfolio of world-renowned classical labels, including Deutsche Grammophon (founded in 1898) and Decca Classics (established in 1929).
