NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Top40 Charts/ Nashville Records) - Nashville Records, Inc. has been selected to provide original songs for the christening and commencement of the USS New York. The Company has received a Letter of Commitment from the Department of Defense. The ship will be added to the Naval fleet and was constructed with twenty-four tons of melted steel from the World Trade Centers. The ship was constructed by Northrop Grumann in New Orleans and already made history twice - once from the steel of the WTC and secondly, it withstood hurricane Katrina. The ships construction workers reportedly treated it with "reverence usually accorded to religious relics," touching it as they walked by. The Letter of Commitment includes two songs for two significant events… The christening, expected to take place in New Orleans later 2007, and the commencement, which will take place in New York at an unspecified date in the future. The two songs include the title song; 'The USS New York,' written by writers of Nashville Records. The Company will select today's hottest artists to perform the songs. It is anticipated the artists will be featured on Good Morning America and other major talk shows. The Company has exclusive rights to distribute CD's, downloads, and DVD's of events and footage. Downloads will be ready on the days of broadcast at many websites across the Internet geared to handle an onslaught of downloads. Anita Cox, a Company spokesperson, says she and Nashville Records President, Gene Sibbett, began the work on this project ten months ago with Captain Wensing from the Pentagon. Major media around the world will cover the events. Early estimations indicated there could be a viewing audience of 70 million viewers but now it is believed this could be grossly underestimated. One goal is to raise awareness concerning terrorism and freedom to entire world governments. In attendance to the commencement will be many world dignitaries, U.S. politicians and the President of the United States. Nashville Records team has been invited and the Company will select a few of its major investors to attend as well. Only a handful of articles have been written about the USS New York to date, but a lot more will be written as the christening and commencement dates approach.
