LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ MPRM Communications) With the theatrical release set for
September 21 in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, as well as other key markets, high profile independent comedy "My Uncle Rafael" is the first film with a theatrical release date to beat the drum on the net's largest crowd funding site. Bracing for a successful opening bow, the film's director, and former Spielberg assistant, Marc Fusco, makes his case that being prepared to expand into more major markets immediately is the responsible thing to do.
"We wanted to offer investors and film aficionados something they have never seen on Kickstarter before," states Fusco. "With the incredible response Rafael is getting after our preview screenings in the initial cities, we need to be ready to expand. So we created a real value added opportunity for people wanting to support our film."
The award-winning comedy seems to boast the highest profile cast ever on Kickstarter with Missi Pyle (The Artist, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory), John Michael Higgins (Yes Man, TV's "Happily Divorced"), Anthony Clark (Yes, Dear), Joe Lo Truglio (Role Models), Rachel Blanchard (Road Trip), and Carly Chaikin (Suburgatory). Slater Brothers Entertainment is releasing the film.
The movie's 'Bring Uncle Rafael to Your Town and Make History' funding page offers various networking and career opportunities indie filmmakers, film students, and actors could only hope for, with entertaining VIP and collector packages as well. Part of the package includes walk on roles in the director's upcoming film as well as advice the director learned under his tutelage with Spielberg.
