The Grammy Foundation And Musicares Appoint Scott Goldman As Vice President

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (GRAMMY Foundation) - The GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares today announced that Scott Goldman has been appointed Vice President for both nonprofit organizations. In this role, Goldman will report directly to Kristen Madsen, Senior Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares, two charities founded in 1989 by The Recording Academy. Goldman will serve as a senior partner responsible for all development activities and sponsor relationships that provide the necessary resources for a wide range of programs and services offered by the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares.

Prior to joining the Foundations, Goldman was the vice president of development at City of Hope, where he oversaw the organization's fund-raising efforts within the music and entertainment industries. He also supervised its network of 10 regional fund-raising offices around the country. Goldman joined City of Hope in 1989, serving as the regional director in the San Francisco office. He assumed the music and entertainment industry role, based in Los Angeles, in 1992. He also has served City of Hope as western region director from 1994 - 1998, and director of business development from 2000 - 2002.

"Scott's expertise in all aspects of development, combined with his extensive knowledge of the music industry, make him an ideal person for this important role at the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares," said Recording Academy, MusiCares and GRAMMY Foundation President Neil Portnow. "Through my personal association with City of Hope, I have seen firsthand Scott's effectiveness, diplomacy and broad experience."

Goldman began his fund-raising career in 1983 with United Cerebral Palsy in Northern California. In 1985, he joined the March of Dimes Bay Area chapter as San Francisco division director. He went on to found the Northern California Chapter of the RP Foundation Fighting Blindness in 1987. A New York native, Goldman received his bachelor of science degree in theater from Skidmore College.
