New York, NY (Top40 Charts) In February,
Aaron Watson made Billboard sales chart history by becoming the first solo male artist to debut at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart with a self-released, independently distributed studio album. 'The Underdog' (2.17.2015) continues its sales ascent as Watson performs to sold out audiences across the country in support of his new - and 12th career - album.
The "proud country traditionalist" (New York Times) made his Grand Ole Opry debut on March 31st where he was chosen to be one of six artists featured on UVerse/AT&T's "My Country Debut" series which can be viewed here: https://bit.ly/AW_OpryDebut
Watson performed during BMI's Key West Songwriters Festival last week and headlines shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. over the next month. On top of consistent touring, Watson is also seeing steady growth at radio with monitored airplay from Kansas City to San Jose and Salt Lake City to Houston, "That Look" is starting to make an impact at mainstream country radio with the support of Thirty Tigers' newly assembled national promotions staff.
"With so much talk right now about where Country is moving to musically, I think
Aaron Watson has bridged the heritage and modern of our format perfectly with That Look," says Johnny Chiang Operations Manager at KKBQ/Houston, TX.
Featured by The Guardian, Country Weekly, The New York Times, Rolling Stone Country and NPR's Morning Edition, Watson continues to approach his music and touring as he always has -- through grit, perseverance, a sense of humor and an unwavering dedication to his audiences: on air, online and on site.
"It's always been about my faith, family and the incredible country music fans who come to our shows every night," says Watson, "To me, that's what its always been about and it'll continue to be that way until I don't get to do this anymore. I'm grateful for every minute I get to do this."
