Cuban Music "dream Team" Shoots For Grammy Award
SAN FRANCISCO (Top40 Charts/ Latin PUlse Music Inc.) Some of the most world-renowned singers and musicians living in Cuba today -- part of a special large-ensemble project called the Havana Heavy Hitters -- are a Cuban music "Dream Team" shooting for a Grammy Award as Best Tropical Latin Album.

Released in November 2010 and produced by drummer Michael Gerald and brothers Yosvel & Edduar Bernal Pina, "Vestido De Blanco" features members of the top dance orchestras delivering the latest mix of Afro-Cuban rhythms and vocalizations, contemporary jazz harmonies and funky horn arrangements, a genre known as timba.

"Even with services like Spotify, iTunes, Google Music, MOG and Rdio, and not to mention being completely under the radar as far as terrestrial and satellite radio, world-caliber and truly exciting music from bands like the Havana Heavy Hitters can't get the attention they deserve, save for awards like the Grammys," said Michael Lazarus of Timba.com and the album's label Spanish Music Records.

The album features members of Los Van Van (Hugo Morejon), Paulito F.G. (Yosvel Pina), Irakere (Michael Antes), Habana D' Primera (Alexander Abreu), Charanga Habanera (Michel Maza & Osmani Collado), Bamboleo (Rafael Paceiro), Klimax (Papiosco Torres), and Issac Delgado (Roberto Cucurucho Rodríguez), among others.

"While other genres and styles impose themselves on the current market, this HHH project arrives just in time to demonstrate the quality and grandeur of the way popular music was created in Cuba during its stellar days of the 1990s, a time for which many musicians -- including myself -- share strong feelings of nostalgia," said producer Edduar Bernal Pina.

For your consideration for Best Tropical Latin Album, "Vestido De Blanco" by Havana Heavy Hitters best exemplifies can't-help-but-move-your-booty modern Cuban music.
