NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Republic Records) - Universal Republic Records' star newcomer
Colbie Caillat returns to the Top Ten of The Billboard Top 200 Album Charts, surging to No 10 this week with COCO, the debut album from the California singer/songwriter that has become the grassroots phenomenon of the year.
The recently gold-certified COCO has been one of the most-buzzed about debuts of 2007 since it notched a record-breaking No 1 debut on iTunes' coveted Albums Chart within hours of its release in late-July. The album opened at a sparkling No 5 on its first go-around on the Billboard Top Ten, where it has been hovering among the country's most popular albums since its eye-opening launch 3 months ago. Propelled by the infectious hit single 'Bubbly,' which has locked down multiple No 1 slots at radio and the digital domain, the California native has been hailed by the Washington Post (and other critics) as 'One of the few genuine breakthroughs of the year.'
Currently in the midst of a sold-out U.S. tour, Colbie is continuing the fan-friendly rapport that ignited her amazing rise on the social networking site myspace. Recently voted a coveted 'AOL Breaker' slot by fans of the popular AOL Music destination, it was Caillat's low key, inviting online presence where fans across the globe first discovered the singer's alluring musical skills.
Now topping more than 160,000 myspace friends - with total plays at an astounding 25 million - her unscripted connection with digital music fans is just one of the reasons why she has blossomed into one of music's most talked about artist development stories, and has been featured in the pages of People, USA Today, on the cover of Pollstar, and other publications, as well as appearing on NBC's Today show and Tonight Show With Jay Leno. She's appeared on MTV's signature countdown show, TRL, and will be dropping by the ABC's hit morning show The View on November 8.
Unconventional in her relaxed approach to both image and songcraft - she is rumored to have written some of her songs in her acoustic-friendly Malibu bathroom 'Bubbly's' breathy vocals and subtle wordplay have captivated music fans across the country. A recurring favorite of iTunes and other digital, wireless and video charts, she ruled the No 1 spot at Triple A radio for one of the longest stretches of 2007. Most recently, the song has become a popular fixture at Radio Disney.
Colbie's musical magnetism has also attracted a passionate following around the globe. The star is experiencing huge success in several countries including Germany, New Zealand, and the UK, among others.
