New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Pop-rock artist Melanie Taylor released her first single, "$$$$$ (Money)" from her upcoming sophomore album. You can get a free download of the track on Noisetrade. "$$$$$ (Money)" follows the debut album "All About Today" which featured the singles "Cease Fire" and "Walk of Shame," and is digitally available worldwide.
The new single caters towards the summer party season, and pokes fun at Kanye West's infamous award show scandal where he stood up for Beyonce. "We knew we wanted to make it a fun party record, yet also true to my SoCal roots which is a little more laid back" Taylor said when discussing the beginning stages of the song she co-wrote with producer Troy "R8DIO" Johnson (Jesse McCartney, JLo, Chris Brown, Will Smith, Solange, 2Pac). "R8DIO came up with the beat and I immediately thought of this Kanye line….it just flowed from there."
The song is a perfect party anthem for listeners everywhere, even if you don't have the "$$$$$" to spend this summer, according to Melanie. "Feeling like money is just a state of mind," Taylor says. "I could be with my best friends lying by a pool drinking cheap wine and still feel as good as if I were at some expensive party…it's all about how you look at it, and that's what I want this song to do for people."
The San Diego native will soon be releasing "$$$$$ (Money)" on iTunes in the first week of August and the official music video. Along with Troy "R8DIO" Johnson, Melanie has collaborated with Grammy Nominated producer Christian "Davis" Stalnecker, Bruce "Automatic" Vanderveer, and Drew Lane on her upcoming album. The singer hints that her other music will be a mix of rock, pop, and most of all feel good beats.
