New York, NY (Top40 Charts) On Sunday, May 21st The New Mexico Music Awards (NMMA) revealed their annual winners at a special gala held at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque. Among those that took home the top music awards was Ruidoso resident Richard Cagle of Montrose Records. Richard is the band leader and lead singer for the blues rock group Richard Cagle and the Voodoo Choir. The song that won the top honors in the blues category "Slow Blues" is from the group's latest CD "DOS". Richard shared the following, "When we first learned that we had been nominated by the NMMA that in itself was a great honor and if we hadn't went a step further that would have been great. However, when they called our name Monday night that became the icing on the cake. I would like to thank all of the radio stations and publications that shared our music with folks around the world."

Montrose Records is a professional recording company with two locations; one in Houston Texas and the other in Ruidoso New Mexico. Early on Richard Cagle worked with Johnny Winter and went on to produce such luminaries as Carolyn Wonderland, Annika Chambers, Brad Absher, Lone Star Hippie, and most recently rock legend George Kinney. Earlier this year twenty artists came together in Ruidoso to record "Music of Ruidoso" benefitting the Lincoln County Food Bank.
