NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - The song "Brandy Alexander," co-written by Ron Sexsmith and Feist, is set to appear on Sexmith's new album 'Exit Strategy of the Soul' (July 8, Yep Roc). The song was previously recorded by Feist and released on her 2007 album 'The Reminder.'

Composed via email and chance meetings, the song was born after Feist and Sexsmith ran into each other in an Ottawa hotel lounge. Sexsmith recalls, "At the time I had gotten into the habit of ordering Brandy Alexanders and so she had come up to me and asked me what I was drinking. I told her that it was the famous drink that got John Lennon and Harry Nilsson kicked out of the LA Troubadour back in the 70's. A few days later I received a lyric via email from Leslie called "Brandy Alexander." I thought it was great and almost immediately I went down to the piano and started setting it to music."

A year later, Sexsmith re-connected with Feist backstage at a show in Los Angeles and sang her the completed work, recording it on a dictaphone.

"I didn't really plan on recording a version of my own until I heard her take on it which, by the way, I love." says Sexsmith, The Feist version is very pretty and sophisticated where as I heard it as more of a drunken sing-along."

'Exit Strategy of the Soul' is Ron Sexsmith's ninth album of warm melodies and brilliant song-writing. Look for him on tour this summer.
