New York, NY(Top40 Charts/ DAS Communications) - It's tough to win the triple crown but DAS Communications just hit the trifecta with three top 10 songs in the U.K. this week.
DAS newcomer, Pixie Lott, debuted in the No 1 spot, knocking off DAS superstar artist The Black Eyed Peas who held the No 1 in the U.K. for two of the last three weeks. The Black Eyed Peas are No 2 this week and the third DAS artist, Australia superstars The Veronicas, held onto the No 9 spot. This is a rare accomplishment and it's the first time it has happened to a U.S. based management company.
"In these troubling times globally, it's gratifying that we are still delivering hits, breaking new artists and finding unique and creative ways of reaching the public," says DAS CEO David Sonenberg.
Meanwhile, DAS artist The Black Eyed Peas continue to dominate all charts on a worldwide basis. "Boom Boom Pow," the lead single from their new album The E.N.D., has grabbed the No 1 slot on the European Hot 100, while continuing to hold the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 weeks and selling in excess of 2.7 million singles. In the U.S., the Peas are dominating the iTunes single sales charts holding the No 1 and No 2 positions this week. Their new album is set to give them their first No 1 album in the U.S., and also No 1 debuts in Canada, Japan, Australia, France, New Zealand, and Austrian Album Charts. The E.N.D will also land in the top ten of 10 other countries this week.
The Peas recently broke the record for a group having the most Top 40 radio hits of any artist this decade, scoring 12 top 40 hits, besting the Backstreet Boys and Nickelback. This is in addition to the 6 Top 40 hits Fergie scored on her debut solo album, The Dutchess.
DAS scored big last year with almost 7 million in sales from Fergie's debut solo album THE DUTCHESS, plus a U.S. Gold album and 3 hits from Natasha Bedingfield's POCKETFUL OF SUNSHINE.
DAS clients have sold in excess of 300 million records to date. DAS has launched the careers of MEAT LOAF, the SPIN DOCTORS, JOAN OSBORNE, the FUGEES, WYCLEF JEAN, LAURYN HILL, THE BLACK EYED PEAS, FERGIE, JOHN LEGEND AND THE VERONICAS. Seven of DAS' clients have sold over 10 million albums including the record breaking Meat Loaf debut album, BAT OUT OF HELL which has sold 43 million units worldwide.
DAS produced the Academy Award winning feature documentary WHEN WE WERE KINGS and its film SOUL POWER will be released theatrically in July.
DAS currently has multiple joint ventures with various labels including Interscope Records, Island/Def Jam and Warner Brothers Records. Upcoming DAS releases include PIXIE LOTT (Mercury UK), KEKE PALMER (Interscope), CARNEY (Interscope), the PRETTY RECKLESS (Interscope), JESSICA JARRELL (Island/Def Jam) and SUSAN JUSTICE (Warner Brothers). DAS President William Derella adds, "Our (DAS) artists have always been a bit left of center, not fitting any particular niche, but all have one set of common denominators - unique voices, incredible songs, extraordinary live shows, and the ability to genuinely reach audiences from all parts of the globe."
