Institute of Contemporary
Music Performance is proud to announce that Darcus Beese OBE, President of Island Records will be the Keynote Speaker at the Institute's upcoming Careers Day on
Thursday the 7th of May 2015. Darcus' speech will be followed by a Q&A session between Darcus and
Music Week's News Editor Rhian Jones.
The Institute's Careers Day is central to its calendar of industry events and is open to all current students, alumni and
Institute guests, who will be welcomed into the school for a full day of panels, speakers and presenters covering all aspects of creating and sustaining a successful career in the music industry. During the day, students will have the opportunity to get feedback on their music from A&R representatives from Virgin/EMI Records, Atlantic Records, Universal
Music Publishing, Pledge
Music and RCA.
Other speakers at the event will include Neil Simpson from ATC Management (Catfish & The Bottlemen,
Laura Mvula, Katie Melua, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Warpaint),
Sarah Thompson from Charm Factory (Hozier, John Newman, Rebecca Ferguson), Federica Furlotti from Outpost Media (Hot Chip, Snow Patrol, Air) and Weller Media Agency (James Bay, Years & Years, Take That, The Script).
Other organisations represented at the Institute's Careers Day will include Sound Connections, Musicians' Union, PPL, PRS, BASCA,
Music Jobs and Meet & Jam.
At the end of the day there will be an Alumni Q&A with recent
Institute graduates Natasha North (Singer-Songwriter), Ceri Jones (Sony Music) and Vic Jamieson (Session Guitarist for MNEK, etc).
