David Myles, Nova Scotia's award-winning acoustic crooner. "I was thinking if I'm gonna be an adult, I want to do it right. I don't want to go down a path of cynicism and unhappiness. So I wrote myself this little memo, reminding me to stay focused on the important stuff." The memo would go on to become "When It Comes My Turn," one of the featured songs on his official US debut album So Far set to be released on
September 25 via

"Now I can't become that old cynical grump I may have one day become!" continued Myles. "I sing it at shows every night. The other interesting part of the song is that though I thought it would be mainly 20-somethings going through quarter life crises in mind that would feel a connection with the song, it's resonated most significantly with my parent's generation. Those who are transitioning into retirement or the later stages of life have really grabbed on to this song, and I'm so happy about that. Shows you that the word 'old' is such a perfectly relative term. It's all in how you think of it."
So Far is a collection of David's songs over the years, re-recorded and re-imagined in an acoustic stripped down format evocative of the late '50's folk/roots/swing era with an energy that somehow combines the cool of
Chet Baker with the ruckus of Chuck Berry. Myles has always been attracted to another time. Even as a young kid he felt the pull of history finding solace with artists such as Miles Davis and Sam Cooke. Today, Myles makes a living traversing musical time periods and genres, crisscrossing from folk, roots, jazz, and country while swinging between the forties, fifties, and sixties to 2015, with the flick of a wrist and the strum of a guitar.

The youngest of four brothers, Myles grew up in a musical household on the east coast of Canada. Even though his parents were avid music lovers - the entire family played an instrument, working their way through the Royal Conservatory repertoire - they insisted that he seek higher education which landed him on the path to a political science degree. When studying Chinese in China with plans to go to law school, he began writing songs with a $30 red and green plywood guitar and started deviating from his education. He broke the news to his family that he'll be pursuing music full-time upon his return home and promised his disappointed father that he'd wear a suit to work every single day (hence why
David wears suits when he performs).
More than a decade later, Myles has a thriving career as a musician, hosts a CBC radio show called "East Coast
Music Hour," and tours the country winning many accolades and awards. Of his many accomplishments, the most notable is his collaboration in 2013 with hip-hop artist
Classified on the song "Inner Ninja," an anti-bullying song featuring kids in the chorus. It went on to become the best-selling rap single in the history of Canadian music, going quadruple platinum, and netted them a Juno for "Rap Recording of the Year."
