New York, NY (Top40 Charts) In advance of her upcoming tour dates with Ray LaMontagne, SUSTO, and Lissie, Elise Davis has shared a video for her song "The Burn" (directed by Jason Alan Morant) from her critically-acclaimed sophomore album Cactus.
"'The Burn' is a song about sexual attraction and how you can't control when you have it or who you have it for," explains Davis. "When deciding how to represent that in a video, women devouring a cake shaped as the male anatomy seemed like the right fit."

NPR Music's Jewly Hight just said, "Elise Davis is recognized in Nashville songwriting circles for her ability to capture serrated emotions. She's raised the bar even higher with her sophomore album Cactus, teasing out the tensions between youthful infatuation and grown-up confessions of dissatisfaction and desire in songs whose arrangements range from acoustic spareness to sumptuous orchestration." American Songwriter recently praised the album for its "catchy folk/pop tunes that feel as authentic and honest as her lyrical revelations."

The album's first single "Dont Bring Me Flowers," which was co-written with Maren Morris and Frank Romano, was embraced by NPR Music who said, "'Don't Bring Me Flowers' is downright buoyant, flirting with pop melodies and allowing more room for Davis to go big with her formidable voice."

BrooklynVegan shared the video for "Lone Wolf" and said, "The album was produced by Jordan Lehning, who's worked closely with Andrew Combs and Caitlin Rose and has done string arrangements for Kacey Musgraves, and if you like any of those artists but haven't heard Elise Davis, that's worth changing."
The album has additionaly received strong support from Billboard, Rolling Stone, and Wide Open Country.

Davis was recently featured in the print edition of Men's Journal, who said, "Lucinda Williams + Big Star + The Breeders = Elise Davis."
For Cactus, Davis tapped producer Jordan Lehning (Caitlin Rose, Andrew Combs, Birdcloud's Jasmin Kaset) to helm her most personal work to date. The two worked together for six months straight, holed up in Lehning's home studio, looking to albums like Tom Petty's Wildflowers and Aimee Mann's Mental Illness for inspiration. Davis' melodies remain at the forefront of every mix, her voice honest and unflinching, stripped free of the reverb that had swirled its way throughout The Token.

"Cacti are independent plants that sustain themselves," explains Davis about the new album. "They can be beautiful with bright-colored flowers on them, but if you touch them, they will hurt you. I see a lot of parallels with the way I have felt most of my life. It felt like the perfect album title for these songs."
