CHATSWORTH, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Image Entertainment) Image Entertainment, Inc. (OTCQB: DISK) headed to the 2011 Cannes Film Festival today with a pre-festival pick up of the crime thriller, THE DOUBLE. The film stars award-winning actors Richard Gere (Amelia, Chicago), Topher Grace (Predators, Spider-Man 3) and Martin Sheen (The Way, Bobby) and is the directing debut of Michael Brandt (Wanted). The agreement is with WME Global's Graham Taylor and Hyde Park's Ashok Amritraj. The announcement was made by Bill Bromiley, Chief Acquisitions Officer for Image Entertainment. 'I look forward to working with Ashok, Richard Gere and Hyde Park on the release of THE DOUBLE,' commented Bromiley. 'We worked together many years ago and have been trying to find the right project again. I'm thrilled that we have found it.' Mark Ward, Vice President of Acquisitions at Image, added, 'The performances in THE DOUBLE are terrific and the production value is amazing. For a first time director, Michael has hit it out of the park.' In THE DOUBLE, a retired CIA operative is paired with a young FBI agent to figure out who killed a senator. The clues indicate that he might have been a victim of a Soviet assassin. The film was written by Brandt and his writing partner, Derek Haas. The two have collaborated in the past on such films as Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma. The film was produced by Hyde Park/Imagenation. The agreement is a partnership between Hyde Park/Imagenation and Image Entertainment, Inc. The film is anticipated to have a fall theatrical release through Image Entertainment.
