LONDON, UK (Overnight
Superstar Productions) - UK-based and American-born indie artist Tony Rhone has been on the Billboard Hot Dance
Music Club Play Chart since early Summer with a song that takes note of today's culture. The song,
"Living Large," is currently on the chart at 32* in the issue dated July 31, 2004.
Rhone, who wrote and helped produce the song, defines "Living Large" as "not being only about 'flash things.'" He adds, "it's also about feeling good about oneself. As long as people are having a good time and liking what they're doing, it's 'living large.' It's just being able to enjoy yourself. You don't need a lot of money to live large, but what you need to have is a wholesome heart."
A performance artist and self-described poet, Rhone's musical influences include Cab Calloway and the music from that era, which has helped him created a sound that contains elements of Jazz, Drum 'n' Bass and House. He also said that incorporating Jazz has allowed him to break a few rules, including getting Jazz breaks from Dance beats.
"Living Large" was backed by an all-UK production team. The song was remixed by E-Smoove, who was nominated for a Grammy in the "2002 Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical" category.
There is a "Thick Dick Mix" and a "Thick Dick Dub." David Rosen provides the "Club Mix," Jesse n Kester (AKA Jess Jackson and Kester 1-Time), the "DnB Mix" and Eric Robertson (whose credits include Aretha Franklin, Martha Wash, The Weather Girls and Sylvester) the "Original" version of the song.
There's also an exclusive song included on the CD, the Frank Sinatra-influenced "Seventeen," which was written by Rhone. The CD Promo is on Overnight Superstar Productions.
The cover artwork was inspired by Rhone.
A companion video for "Living Large" was filmed in the UK and there will also be footage shot in the U.S. this Summer. There are also plans for Rhone to perform in Southern California area clubs. He performs with his European-based band Peach Grove, when he is overseas.
He also appears regularly in Paris, Rome and other European countries as a performance artist. "Living Large" will be available soon commercially.
