LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Notifi Records/ Courtney Barnes PR) It's been 16 years since award-winning, R&B legend
Johnny Gill released a solo album, but next month the wait is over as Gill will release his new single, 'In The Mood,' the first track from his forthcoming recording on independent powerhouse Notifi Records.
Written by Gill, Ralph Stacey and Dave Young, who has composed hits for Faith Evans, Toni Braxton and Mary J. Blige, 'In The Mood' keeps Gill sounding as contemporary as Usher, Ne-Yo and today's other chart-topping R&B stars. The smooth, laid-back vibe of the song fits perfectly on all radio formats yet reminds his fans that he is still one of the best, most powerful vocalist around.
Notifi CEO Ira Dewitt commented, 'Despite the fact that it has been 16 years since we have enjoyed a solo record by Johnny, he is still one of the most compelling vocalists around. It is a testament to his talent that he has been able to stay viable and continually re-invent himself over all these years. I'm ecstatic that he chose Notifi as his partner to release his new music.'
'It's a blessing to be able to record again after 16 years, and I'm excited for my fans to enjoy the new music,' stated Gill.
'In The Mood' is the first look into Gill's forthcoming album, Still Winning, set for release this fall featuring production by Grammy Award Winning Producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Bryan Michael Cox and Wyclef Jean. Troy Taylor, who signed Trey Songz and executive produced his CDs, is also a producer on the album.
About Johnny Gill
Singing sensation Johnny Gill began his meteoric rise to fame as a teen star and duet partner to child prodigy Stacy Lattisaw. His success with Lattisaw and as a gospel singer inspired New Edition to invite Gill to join the group as the lead vocalist in 1987. The addition of Gill reinvigorated the group and added youthful flavor. Gill broke out as a solo artist in 1990, with back-to-back No 1 R&B classics 'My, My, My' and 'Rub You The Right Way' and followed up with two additional solo discs. Gill joined Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat to form LSG and the trio cranked out a multi-platinum debut and a hit follow up in 2003. In addition to numerous tours and appearances with LSG, New Edition and as a solo artist, Gill has also been part of Heads of State, a group formed by Gill, Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown.
