LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ DawBell PR) London's most unconventional and unforgettable duo,
Noisettes aka Dan Smith and Shingai Shoniwa take us on a musical adventure, taking us straight back to the sixties with lead single 'That Girl', released August 13th.
Embarking on a new musical era, the dynamic duo have served up a rootsy, pop-soul stomper - 'That Girl', taken from the band's long awaited new album 'Contact' released August 27th. With a sound reminiscent to great bands of the golden sixties, the single will have you tapping along to its infectious swinging beat.
With a career that has stretched over seven incredible years, their fizzy, witty mixture of all kinds of pop, given their own exotic twist, has brought them well known chart smashes like 'Never Forget You' and 'Don't Upset the Rhythm', while their unique command of the stage has made them festival icons from Glastonbury to V Festival.
Already proving to be a smash hit with fans and critics alike, 'That Girl' follows the bands first musical offering from their latest album. The aptly titled track 'Winner' will be given away as a thank you to their loyal fans and in support of the GB Olympic team. The track can be downloaded from their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheNoisettes
The bands latest album, 'Contact' marks the magnificent return of Noisettes, and boy have they been missed. The album is an eclectic mix of everything that the world loves about this duo; intoxicating, emotionally evoking, with a hint of uplifting, funky beats.
"'Contact' for us, is like a film from beginning to end, musically, lyrically, emotionally" says Shingai. "The album starts with a big thirty piece orchestra and ends with just Dan and I singing and just the cackling of the wood and the flames of the fire for accompaniment."
Having been friends for over a decade after meeting at the BRIT school, their friendship, love for performing, and diverse musical influences is what keeps them so refreshingly unique, and musically pioneering. Dan says "Me and Shingai are a great double act in the studio whether we are writing on our own or with other people. The trousers (metaphorically of course) are on a rota. Sometimes I wear them and sometimes she does and occasionally we get a leg each but mostly each of us knows when we are supposed to lead or follow and it could be at any time that we need to switch roles."
Noisettes are renowned for their enthralling performances and style - fierce and daring, their energy is reminiscent of the true, legendary artists of the past, leading to them being described "the best live band in Britain" by The Guardian last year. Shoniwa can often be seen charging in to the audience playing guitar and singing clinging to a ladder suspended from the ceiling, a nod to the circus skills she learnt in her teens. "We always go that extra mile to give the crowd a night they'll never forget," says Shoniwa. "I love artists like Hendrix and Bowie who fussed over their hair and took time choosing an outfit. I'm really inspired by that golden age."
2012 is already looking set to become a monumental year for the band. Having already performed at The Diamond Jubilee Festival in Battersea Park on June 3rd, the band are also part of BT River of Music, a curtain-raiser for the Olympic Games, taking place on July 22nd on the Africa Stage at London's Pleasure Gardens.
One thing's for sure, fans and critics around the world have been waiting in excitement and anticipation for their return - the wait is over! These guys are back and at their best!
