LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - Weezer, Afroman, and Michael Franti & Spearhead's pot-themed songs have garnered the acts two nominations each for High Times magazine's 2nd Annual Doobie Awards for Conscious Music.

Weezer is up for Band of the Year and Pot Song of the Year for "Hash Pipe" (though the song isn't really about smoking pot); Franti's Stay Human garnered nods for Most Conscious Album and Best Hip-Hop Album; and Afroman's "Because I Got High" single and The Good Times are no-brainers for Pot Song of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Album, respectively. Afroman will also headline the three-hour event.

The awards, slated for Sept. 12 at Wetlands in New York, aim to reflect the power marijuana has in music, whether artists are literally singing about the drug or just influenced by it.
