Detroit will have the best barbeque this side of the Mississippi August 6-8. The 15th Annual Ribs 'n' Soul has a new name Rib's 'n' Soul R 'n' B Jazz Fest and will host thousands of rib lovers who will eat, drink and shop while enjoying the sounds of many musical groups.
R&B legend Alexander O'neal featuring Cherrelle will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in music and singing their no. 1 platinum hit "Saturday Love. Also, detroit's own legendary group Enchantment will sing all their hits. a special tribute to ron banks of the dramatics and Ali Ollie Woodson, former lead singer of the Temptations, performed by 'serious.'
The battle of the bands will feature international funk band slave vs. detroit's own larry lee and the back in the day band. also, in the battle will be former bass player for snoop dog, t money green's roadwork funk band. gospel showcase sunday afternoon; more than 100 performances by international, national, and local acts all weekend long. the hottest event of the summer!!!
The Ribs 'n' Soul R 'n' B Jazz Fest boasts the best ribs this side of the Mississippi. On Sunday, Aug. 8, chefs from around the country will smoke, grill and season ribs to perfection during the tasty Rib Cook Off. This year, 15 grillers will compete for the Best Ribs and Best Sauce title.
This premier summer attraction will bring people from as far as Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, Chicago and Indiana . The Fest will also feature a Health Expo, Art on the River, an African village, a Business Expo and the Kid's Zone. In addition, there are two entertainment stages featuring national, regional and local talent.
Friday and Saturday will feature R&B. Gospel music will the order of Sunday afternoon. Performing Sunday evening is Enchantment. There will also be many regional and local artists performing throughout the weekend. Preferred seating and VIP tickets are available for both shows.
"We work hard to provide our guests with exceptional entertainment and an experience for the entire family," said Johnnie Washington, the event producer. "We expect this year's festival to be the hottest event of the summer." More than 200,000 people are expected over the three days.
