Venice, California (Top40 Charts/ On the Path LLC) Proving that at the heart of the true artist lies an eternal student, Academy award-winning actor, singer-songwriter and multi-talented artisan, Jeff Bridges, says he "digs" the "On the
Music Path" app and is "excited" about learning to play "
These Days", one of the songs taught by Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Jackson Browne, in a lesson for intermediate guitarists available exclusively through the app (https://onthepath.com/AppStore.html).
Shot in high-definition video by award-winning cinematographer, Alan Kozlowski, the "On the Music Path" iPad app offers carefully structured lessons on how to play the guitar, piano, drums and bass from a star-studded cast of world-renowned musicians, including Jackson Browne, Richard Thompson, Vonda Shepard, Leland Sklar, Steve Ferrone, Ravi Shankar and many others. Bridges can be seen using the best-selling iPad app in a video released today by On the Path LLC to accompany the latest version of their product (https://onthepath.com/JeffBridgesDemo).
In the unscripted video, Bridges dives into Browne's explanation of "open G tunings" and demos his favorite features of the app, including the ability to slow the teacher's demonstration down to 1/4 of its original speed and to set in and out points to loop a particular section of music. Although Bridges seems impressed by the app's technological wizardry, he makes a point of telling viewers that "it's not about the technology. It's about the age-old tradition of teaching" in which a master passes down their craft to an apprentice. "I've got a whole slew of guys I want to learn from," Bridges explains. "And now I can. Thanks to this app."
Bridges first saw the On the Music Path app while working with Kozlowski on a promotional video for Bridges' new album being released by EMI's Blue Note Records late this summer. "As soon as Jeff saw the app, his eyes lit up like a child's," says Kozlowski, On the Path's founder and creative director. "Jeff spends a great deal of time on the road and always has a thousand projects on his plate," explains Kozlowski. "So the portability of the iPad-based lesson was a big selling point. Now Jeff can take Jackson's lesson wherever he goes and work on it whenever it's convenient."
Bridges calls the app a "blessing" for anyone interested in learning to play an instrument. But when asked what instrument he thinks the "Dude" would want to learn, Bridges admits that the well-loved slacker character he played in the Coen brothers' film, "The Big Lebowski", might only be interested in playing the "kazoo."
