ROME, Italy (Laurin Hill Fan Websites) - Lauryn Hill used a Vatican City concert this the weekend to launch a blistering attack on the leadership of the Catholic Church -some of whom were in attendance at the show.

Performing at the hall where Pope John Paul II delivers his weekly addresses, Hill told her audience, "God has witnessed the corruption of your leadership" and "the exploitation and abuses by the clergy."

Italian newspaper La Repubblica quoted Hill as having said, "I realize some of you may be offended by what I am saying, but what do you say to the families who were betrayed by the people in whom they believed."

Neither the Vatican nor Hill's label have made any comment on the incident at this point. The concert was taped to be used in Christmas special for Italian TV, but producers say that they plan to cut Hill's statement from the broadcast.
