Music (MI) will be a notable presence as headline sponsor for a number of the nation's top music festivals, this spring. Presenting their MI Live! Environment at South-by-Southwest, Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Stagecoach festivals and partnering with innovative media and music entities such as Pitchfork and SonicBids, the school will host events, live music performances and clinics from March through June 2011.
In March, MI makes its first official appearance at the 25th annual South-by-Southwest (SXSW)
Music & Media Conference in Austin, Texas, with events planned at three high-profile festival locations. Between March 16 and 20, the school showcases a number of alumni and faculty bands performing acoustic sets at the Expo Gear Alley, one of the prime conventions for music and recording equipment. On March 17 and 18, MI joins online music site Pitchfork for its two-day live music event #Offline. During the 2-day event, which MI is sponsoring, music producer and MI audio engineering instructor Darryl Swann hosts
Music Production Clinics at the air-conditioned "MI Live!" Environment. Then on Friday, March 18, MI celebrates "10 years of Empowering Emerging Music" as a partnering sponsor of Sonicbids' Official SXSW Party held at Maggie Mae's.
After Texas, MI continues its music festivals tour by hosting live music and music production clinics in its
Interactive Environment spaces at the Coachella Valley
Music & Arts Festival (on April 15-17), the Stagecoach Country
Music Festival (on April 30-May 1) and the Bonnaroo (on June 9-11).
The comfortable and air-conditioned MI Live! Environment invites visitors to participate in music production clinics with MI professionals and enjoy student, faculty and alumni music performances. Representatives on site inform visitors about MI academic programs and inquiring attendees can enter to win a free guitar or
Logic production software.
